Sheila McIntyre, 84
Glace Bay, N.S.
Sadly, our beloved Sheila McIntyre (Burchell), 84, passed away at the Glace Bay Hospital on April 2, 2025. Sheila was born and raised in Glace Bay and was the daughter of the late Selda and Dan Burchell.
Sheila is survived by her loving husband Michael, for almost 64 years; her loving children; daughter Joan (Steve) sons Robert (Lynn) Eric (Tara). She was proud of and adored her grandchildren Dean, Liam, Jessie, Grace and Jonah and great grandchildren Tate and Levi. Sheila is also survived by sisters Nellie and Penny.
Alongside her parents Sheila was predeceased by her siblings Ernie and Dan.
We will always remember Sheila’s love of hockey as she was probably the biggest fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins, rooting for them up to her final moments.
Sheila was an incredibly talented woman; her special handcrafted quilts were admired by many and are cherished by her family. She loved spending time creating projects in her sewing room and took immense joy in helping her quilter friends with their work.
In addition to be very crafty, she was a fantastic baker and had a green thumb. She loved to travel when she could and enjoyed surfing the net and watching true crime stories.
Sheila led a full life and would want her memories to be cherished by her family and special friends Allyson and John. Talking about her grandchildren and seeing their photos brightened her day. We were always entertained by the stories she would share about her early years growing up in Glace Bay as well as the years spent as a wife and mother.
To her husband, she leaves undying love and gratitude for her life and children. To her children, she leaves love and many great recipes.
The family would like to acknowledge the outstanding care by the nurses, support staff, and physicians at the Glace Bay Hospital. The kindness and respect for Sheila as a patient on 3 South and West will always be remembered.
Cremation has taken place. As per Sheila’s wishes there will be no service at this time.
