Obituary of Mildred Veronica Shepard

Mildred Veronica Shepard, 86 Glace Bay, N.S. It is with deep heartache that we the family announce the passing of Mildred Veronica Shepard 86, of Glace Bay, passed away March 31, 2025, in the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax. Born in Glace Bay she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Lillian Budden. As well as being a stay at home mom, Mildred worked at various times as a Nurses Aid at the original Glace bay General Hospital on Brookside Street, and later in the mid to late eighties as a crossing guard for Brookside School. She loved crafting and was involved in many classes and groups over the years and she loved traveling with her TOPS friends. Mildred is survived by her four sons, Robert (Jeanette), Glace Bay, Roger (Claire) Burton, N.B., Raymond, Glace Bay, Len (Dean), Tracadie, N.S., her sister in law Arlene (Tom), Beaver Dam, N.B.; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Clifford Allan Shepard, a sister Louise Wadden (Ronnie), Halifax, N.S., and her special friend Jim Mackenzie. A very special thank you to her wonderful Homecare Workers, Sara, Jenna, Wanda and Brenda, and to EHS and the paramedics who took such great care, and to mom’s dear friend Florence Young who stayed by her side these past number of years.
