Ronald Eric Curry Obituary

We are saddened to announce the passing of Ronald Eric Curry, 80, on Friday, March 14, 2025, at the Palliative Care Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.


Born in Port Morien, Ron was the son of the late James and Mary (McIsaac) Curry. Ron worked at Devco for 30 years. He was an original member of St. Mary’s Parish in Port Morien. Ron’s favourite pastime was playing music; he was an active member of several bands, including Razzberry Jam and the Klassics.


He is survived by his longtime companion, Diane Kendall, of 26 years; son, Robert Curry (Lisa), their daughter, Caitlyn; daughter, Andrea Curry-Hansell (Judson); grandchildren, Amelia and Charlie Hansell; Diane’s children, Shelley (Chad), Ashley (Fabien), her grandsons, Breton and Lachlin; and her sister, Gail.

Besides his parents, Ron was predeceased by his wife, Margaret; daughter, Carolyn; brothers, Pat, Earl, Tom, John and Russell; and sisters, Mary and Ellen.


In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

Special thanks to the staff on 4 C and Palliative Care for everything; his neighbours, Debbie and Leo, for always being there for him, and also Monty for all you’ve done this past week.


Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 6 Churchill Drive, Sydney, NS, 902-539-7175. Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 19, from 1-2 pm with service following at 2 pm in the Chapel, Fr. Conrad Edwards officiating.
