Obituary of Louise Doris Gaudet-Blades

Please share a memory of Louise to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Louise Gaudet-Blades, 73 of Halifax, NS passed away March 11, 2025 at the QEII V.G Hospital. Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of Roy and Margaret Gaudet. Louise had a career with the Royal Bank of Canada for the majority of her working life. She formed many enduring friendships among the people she worked with and with many clients as well. Louise was a gregarious, social, funny, talkative and always optimistic person. She loved talking with people, having friends and neighbours in for tea/wine, shopping, club night at Purcell’s Cove Club, lunch with the girls, any social occasion really. What she loved more than anything was family gatherings; having all her beloved relatives gathered in one place made her over the moon happy. Louise also liked walking along woodland trails, she was a fair hand at gardening, and a self-proclaimed expert at cribbage. She was a hard-working woman that kept a warm and inviting home. She was a loving mother, a devoted grandmother, and aunt. Louise loved spending time with her grandchildren. She did lots of silly with them, she took them on various excursions, she baked for them and, importantly, she instructed, by example, how to lead a good and happy life. Her relatively sudden and unexpected passing left many folks shocked and saddened. Still, Louise will be with us forever in our hearts, in our memories. So many happy memories. Louise is survived by her husband of 22 years, Alonzo Blades; daughter, Stefanie (Clinton) McAvoy; sister, Nancy Casey; grandchildren, Myla and Makenzie McAvoy; nephews, Scott (Kendra) Casey, Jason (Courtney) Casey; great nieces and nephews, Ella, Liam, Keira, and Logan; special cousin, Janet (Dave) Downing. She was predeceased by her parents, Roy and Margaret Gaudet; mother-in-law, Carrie Blades; sister-in-law, Cathy Blades; several aunts and uncles; and special friend, Joanne Flemming. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 10:30am in Stella Maris Parish, 6 St. Michaels avenue, Halifax, NS, B3P 1M5 with Fr. Francesco officiating. Interment for the immediate family only will be on March 20, 2025, in St. Paul’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Thank you to all friends and family that reached out and supported us during this difficult time, we greatly appreciate you. Special thanks to Courtney Casey, Liliane and Allen Cook.
