Agnes Harpell Obituary

It is with heavy hearts and deep love that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, who left us peacefully on March 12, 2025, at the age of 94.

Agnes was a woman of grace, kindness, and strength. Born in Donkin on March 3, ’31, she lived a life filled with love, compassion, and unwavering dedication to her family and beloved pets.

She was the cherished mother of William, Judy, and Tom, and the adored grandmother of Trevor, Kelly, Amber, Liz, and Adam, who brought her endless joy. Her legacy also lives on through her great-grandchildren, great-great grandchild, nieces, nephews, and countless others whose lives she touched with her warm heart and generous spirit.

Mom had a love for baking bread, pies (the best ever), and preserves. She enjoyed sitting outside, tending the garden and enjoying a cup of tea with a cat on her lap. She always welcomed everyone into her home with open arms and a kind smile. She taught us the importance of family, kindness, hard work, and her lessons will remain with us forever.

Her life was a beautiful example of love, resilience, and grace; and although our hearts are broken, we are grateful for the time we had with her. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive in the stories we share and the traditions she passed down.

Mom is survived by son, Tom; daughter, Judy (Dave); daughter-in-law, Laura; grandchildren, Trevor, Kelly (Andy), Amber (Nate), Liz, and Adam; great grandchildren, Madison (Caleb), Bryce, Lydia, and Audrey; great-great granddaughter, (Emery); sister, Rose; sister-in-law, Audrey (Billy); brother-in-law, Ken; Uncle Harvey, and many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by loving husband, Wallace; son, William; sons-in-law, Bruce Marryatt, and Pat Greenwood; sisters, Julie, Florence, Mary, Sue; brothers, John, Hughie, Sonny, William (in infancy); brothers-in-law, Reg, Jack, Les, Gary, Victor (Peggy); and sisters-in-law, Helen, Marion, Margaret, Minnie, Jean, Inez, and Faye.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 6 Churchill Drive, Sydney, NS, 902-539-7175. A family graveside service at a later date.

A special thanks to the staff at MacGillivray’s Guest Home for their excellent care of our mother.
