Please share a memory of Sidney to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
We, the family of Sidney Roy Degg, want to announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather on March 4, 2025, at Harbourstone Enhanced Care. Sid was born in Cannock, Staffordshire, England, to the late James Edward Degg and Edith (Jones) Degg. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn (Richards) Degg; children, Lynne (Brian) Yhard, Vicki (Kevin) Boam, and Tony (Beverly) Degg; grandchildren, Brett, Kyle, Daniel, Mathew, and Sophie, whom he adored dearly; sisters, Doreen (Bill) Schofield, and Barbara (Brian) Mathews; sister-in-law, Cheryl (Gerry); and brother-in-law, David (Marilyn) Richards. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by sisters, Ann (Ken) Thomas, and Margaret (Graham) Reaney.
Sid was a volunteer for many organizations. He worked with the Screaming Eagles Hockey Team, Savoy Theatre, and the Salvation Army Kettle. He worked as a service engineer for many years in many mining areas, Wajax being his final mining job. In later years, he worked as a crossing guard at Mt. Carmel School in New Waterford.
Sid loved many things in his life. He always helped those less fortunate whether you were family, friends or a stranger. Sid had a love for hockey, spending time outdoors as an avid gardener, and bird watcher in his backyard. Sid took pride in his garden, planting many varieties of beautiful flowers, roses being his favorite. Sid also did his fair share of travelling with his wife, Carlie, to many places around the world.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the nursing staff of Harbourstone, Steel Workers Lane, as well as the dietary, housekeeping, and hairdressing staff for their exceptional care and kindness they provided for Sid in his final years.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Sid's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Socieyt or a charity or your choice.
