Darlene McDonald
December 10, 1961 - March 3, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our daughter, Mary “Darlene” McDonald, age 63.
Darlene is survived by her father, John D McDonald and stepmother, Lucy (Gregor) McDonald, her siblings Ross (Samantha) McDonald, Gail (Frank) Savage, John McDonald and 7 nieces and nephews. She is also survived by 3 stepsisters, Rhonda (Alan) Stegmaier, Lisa Higgins, Tanya (Mike) Routledge and 5 nieces and nephews.
Darlene was predeceased by her mother, Joan (Furey) McDonald and a twin sister at infancy.
Darlene spent a number of years working for the city of Toronto before moving to Cape Breton with her father. She could be seen walking everyday sporting one of her many fashionable hats to visit her favorite establishments, Tim Hortons and McDonald’s, to enjoy a nice hot cup of coffee with friends. She enjoyed shopping, spending time with her family, and swimming at the YMCA in Sydney. She cared deeply for all animals and had a newfound love of painting. Darlene was known to be a kind-hearted, generous, and loving person who had an unwavering faith in God.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025, from 12-2 p.m., and a Celebration of Life to follow at 2 p.m., all in Tracey's Funeral Home, Glace Bay.
Cremation will take place under the direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay. 902-849-4199.
