Please share a memory of Barry to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with heavy heart that we announce the passing of Barry Alan Mercer of Iona on February 27/25, at the age of 71. He was the son of the late James & Patsy (Grey) Mercer of Sydney.
He leaves behind his wife, Ann Louise Walker, and children, Jim & family, Janet & family, Lindsey (Wes Hein) and Jenna (Jim Bardos) and his precious granddaughter Kate Bardos. Also left to mourn is his brother, Jim, and sister, Charmaine, and his nieces. He left behind his two fur babies, Bailey and Bella.
Barry worked all over Canada but his final stop was in Alberta as a pipe fitter with Jacobs. He was a master of all trades, he could put his hand to electrical, plumbing, carpentry and mechanics. He loved to work with his hands and loved to face challenges.
His pastime was hunting and fishing and he loved to tell and hear stories about adventures he took or other people had experienced. He had weekly visits and chats with his closest friends, Frankie MacNeil and Keith Hodgson.
Special thanks to Dr. Christina Herman and her team and the nursing staff at the QE2 in Halifax, they treated him with such dignity.
As per his wishes there will be no wake or services and a private burial.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 6 Churchill Drive, Sydney, NS, 902-539-7175.
Please remember to be kind to each other and remember him with a smile.
