Obituary of Sharman Jean Scott

Please share a memory of Sharman to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Sharman Jean Scott, 72, of Halifax, Nova Scotia, passed away suddenly on February 22nd, 2025. Born in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late John and Phyllis Patten. Sharman moved to Dartmouth in her early twenties in pursuit of a career as a flight attendant with Eastern Provincial Airways. After three short years in the industry, she met her “Prince Charming” at a Ryan’s Fancy gig at the former Olympic Gardens in Halifax. A dinner at the Henry House two weeks later, followed by an out of season visit to the Grist Mill in Denmark a few weeks after that, she was convinced that Rick was the one, and vice versa! Engaged in February, married in June, and the rest was history. They raised two children: Mark and April at their home in the Westmount Subdivision of Halifax. Outside of her near 40-year career with the airlines, Sharman’s life was consumed with providing the best for her family. She was consistently supportive and fostered a loving and nurturing environment. She was there to celebrate successes and more importantly in times of need. She had a sensitive, gentle, understanding approach when it came to helping her children navigate through life. Sharman was the “Best Mom Ever!”. She was also the “Best Wife Ever!”. Sharman was never more content than when she was in the presence of family, especially with the birth of her grandchildren, Cohen and Blair. Whether it was in Halifax, in PEI, or at the family cottage over-looking the Northumberland Strait, she cherished every moment she was able to be “Grammie”. Sharman was a special human being. If there were angels on Earth, Sharman was surely one of them. She never uttered an unkind word about anyone. She radiated love and kindness to everyone she encountered and for those of us who were fortunate enough to receive her friendship, our lives were enriched by that privilege. She was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, friend, wife, mother and grandmother…and oh my, did she adore her grandchildren. Sharman’s light was so bright, it will remain forever in all of our hearts. Those who knew her, loved her, and she will continue to live on in the lives of those whom she touched…and she touched so many. She is survived by husband Richard; children, Mark Scott, April (Matt) Gamblin; grandchildren, Cohen and Blair Gamblin; sister, Paige (Doug) Mosher, brother Craig (Karen) Patten, children Grant (Megan) and Scott (Stefani); Neice Karla (Shannon) Stevens, children Gavin and Calum Stevens; Nephew John (Tina) Mosher, children Taylor and Alex Mosher. As per her wishes, cremation will take place under the direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, Halifax. To leave words of condolence to the family please visit: www.tjtracey.com. A private celebration of life was held with family.
