Ann Marie (McCormick) McNeil
Gardiner Mines, N.S.
It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the sudden passing of Ann Marie McNeil on January 20, 2025, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital with her family by her side. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of Diane McCormick and the late Daniel McCormick.
Marie was a kind and caring person who loved her family deeply. Her husband, Hector, was her constant support and always by her side. Their son, AJ, was the light of her life.
Marie made lasting friendships over her (short) 61 years of life. She was always checking to make sure her family and friends were okay. She truly had a heart of gold.
Marie worked as a dental assistant for many years, then later worked at EDS call center and the local immigration office before she retired due to health issues.
In Marie’s younger years she enjoyed travelling, reading, swimming, and skating. Later in life, she enjoyed crossword puzzles, knitting, and of course a game of BINGO. But most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Marie is survived by her loving husband Hector McNeil of 33 years, son AJ, mother Diane, sisters Donna (Tony) and Danette (Robert), niece Holly, nephew Daniel (Brayleigh) and grandnephew Kayce. Marie is also survived by brother-in-law Gerard, sisters-in-law Cathy, Elaine, Lynn, and Margie, uncles Billy and Richard, as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Along with her father Dan, Marie was predeceased by her infant son Paul Alexander McNeil, grandparents William and Marie Boutilier, and Dan and Ann McCormick.
Visitation will be held at T.J. Tracey’s Funeral Home, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, 902-849-4199, on Saturday, January 25, 2025, from 9-11 a.m. and a service to follow at 11 a.m. with Fr. Danny Boudreau presiding.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetic Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
We would like to express a sincere thank you to Dr. Greg Myatt for all his kindness and care to Marie over the years, and to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital ER staff.
Marie’s love and strength will live on in the hearts of those she loved. She will be deeply missed.
