Obituary of Mary Khoury (Ajamian)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary (née Ajamian) Khoury on September 27, 2024 at the age of 88. Mary was born on May 25, 1936 in Lattakia, Syria to Armenian Genocide survivor, Antoun Ajamian, and Chafika Sharbek. She started her career as a nurse in her home city of Lattakia.
In 1960, she married the love of her life, Saadallah Khoury. Afterwards, they settled in his hometown of Tartous and had 4 children. She is known by others for being funny, generous, and compassionate. Outside of her career as a nurse, Mary honed her cooking skills and became known for her take on traditional Middle Eastern food.
Mary and her husband and 3 youngest children moved to Canada in 1992, several years after her oldest son settled here. She enjoyed spending her time with family, having summer barbeques at the park, and taking care of her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of almost 65 years, Saadallah; children Ryan (Mary), Roy (Tara), Tony (Ramia Sayegh), and Mirna (Michel Jeha); grandchildren Saadallah, Andrew, Marya, Gabriel, and Angelo; great-grandchildren Ethan and Louca; nephew Samir Skaff (Rita) and niece Rouba Jabbour (George Abi Adal). She is predeceased by her parents; sisters Georgette and Josephine; and daughter-in-law, Loulou.
A wake will be held on Thursday, October 3rd at T.J. Tracey Funeral Home (71 McQuade Lake Crescent, Beechville, NS) from 5PM - 8PM. The funeral will take place on Friday, October 4th, 2024 at 11:00am in Saint Antonios Antiochian Orthodox Church at (2480 Windsor St, Halifax, NS).
