With all the challenges you had to deal with in life, you handled them with a smile and a laugh. Rest in peace Yvonne, you deserve it. When you visited Ron and I in uxbridge you bought me a spaghetti Calderon. Every time I make pasta I will think of you and though on an extra meatball.

As a sister in law my memories of Yvonne are that she was a person of laughter and great loyalty.I got to know her better on her Toronto visits and visits home after going away. She loved to socialize whether it was cards, dancing or just having a chat which always ended with laughter ,mainly at her own expense. She will be missed by family and friends .Her strong will should be inspiration to all.Rest peacefully Yvonne.

My sister-in-law,, married to my brother Sonny…..I remember you from so far away……I babysat for you on Broaday Ave. in Glace Bay……I worked in your’s and Sonny. store all through my teens…..you knew all the kids and you and Sonny became so loved by them because you listened to them. The biggest gathering point for the kids in Number 2 was your store.. You didn’t take any guff, but you deservedly got their respect. Loving you and now I can add you to my list of someone to pray too…..I know you’ll listen….YOU ALWAYS DID.

Beautiful Gerard. You captured her very being. We have a lot of fond memories of Yvonne and Sonny. I remember spending a lot of times with them as a child, working at the store (got caught stealing quarters and dimes, wasn’t aloud behind the counter for awhile, lol).staying up at Myrtle and Johnny’s., playing with Robert (I was 3 years older) going out to Mira. He was my oldest brother and Yvonne and him were my Godparents. They used to come visit me and Jimmy back in the day. Everyone who came in our house loved them, especially Yvonne for her wonderful. funny stories and oh!!!!!!!!!!!the dancing. Ballroom dancers they were. They were iconic, I love your memory about them. I can relate. RIP Yvonne, hope you are in peace with Sonny Boy.

I worked with her I laughed with she was a very funny lady she had a way with words and when she went out for her grocery’s on Fridays she had her hair up and she had some beautiful jewelry she wore and you could hear the cling when she walked you knew she was ready to go to Sobeys’s that was were she like to buy her groceries that was when I helped her get into the pizza bussiness with Sonny way back in the late eighties they were always trying something new in the store he thougth the Pizza Shop was going to be something that his son Robert could handle and he did make a good pizza he done it for a while but I am thinking when Sonny died quick only 65 just going to get his old age . They called the pizza shop The Pluck Me pizza shop after the old puck me stores back in the day that helped the miners. I can go on about the stores that me Yvonne shared over the years she always worried about her son Robert almost everything was Robert an you never said anything about him or she would have a quick answer but it was good to see her meet a gentleman from NWF Hughie Morrison he was good to her took her every were but he took sick back a few years ago and she had a fall over there an they had to put Hughie in assisted living place in Sydney but she kept visiting him her son use to drive her out to see him but she started to get scared to walk because she did not want to fall but she kept telling me that she was going to fall all I could tell her was to use the walker like my mother but I think she was getting to much anxiety from the falls but I feel today she is at peace she lived a good life and anybody knew her knew she was remarket able lady she will never be forgotten as long has I live RIP Yvonne till we meet again one day at a time love you
