Lewis, Michael E.
Age 69 of Halifax passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Sunday, January 6th, 2019.
Born in Halifax, Mike was the son of the late John and Marie (Bayers) Lewis.
He was retired from Canada Post with over 30 years’ service in numerous management positions. Prior to joining Canada Post, Mike owned and operated Mike Lewis’ Grocery & Variety, and during retirement he owned and operated Elmsdale Books and Basin Books. He was an avid sports fan and played ball and hockey and coached both throughout his son’s playing days. Finally, Mike will always be remembered for his entrepreneurial spirit and his willingness to offer his opinion on just about anything at just about any time, especially on talk radio.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 47 years, Susan (Slaunwhite) Lewis; one son, Michael Lewis (Heather) of St. Louis, MO.; one daughter, Amanda Lintaman (Adam) of New Glasgow; 2 sisters, Nancy Goulding and Barbara Carrigan, both of Dartmouth; four beloved grandchildren, Jack and Grace Lewis and Katie and Cooper Lintaman; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sisters Gwendolyn and Evelyn, and brothers Guy, Dave, and John.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, Bedford. (902-835-4212).
Visitation, funeral, and reception will be held at St. Mark’s Anglican Church at 5522 Russell Street, with visitation Friday, January 11th, 2019 at 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm, funeral Saturday, January 12th, 2019 at 11am, and reception to follow in the church hall.
