Winifred Doull (Parsons)

Obituary of Winifred Louise Doull (Parsons)

Please share a memory of Winifred to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The family of Winnie Doull is saddened and yet relieved at the passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and dear friend. Her lengthy battle with dementia ended on March 30th, 2020 in St. Vincent’s Nursing Home. Mom was born in Halifax, the eldest child of the late Louis and Mary Jane Parsons. She was predeceased by her husband Nelson Doull in 2000, her sister Jean McElroy and her brother Wallace Parsons. She is survived by daughters Sandra (Ralph Price), Judy (Martin Beaver); son Ron (Mary) Doull; 5 grandchildren, Craig Beaver, Christine Fedora, Elaine Doull, Sarah Doull and Hannah Doull, as well as 9 great-grandchildren. Winnie was an amazing woman, she brought us up with love, compassion, kindness and forgiveness. One thing that we all knew was that we were loved, and what a gift that was for children. She and dad lived in Halifax until retirement and moved to Greenfield, Queens Co., to live in the country. She made many good friends in Greenfield and was an active member of the sewing circle and attended the United Baptist Church. At age 93 she moved to The Berkley Gladstone in Halifax and spent time enjoying the other residents, staff and activities. In May 2019 she moved to St. Vincent’s Nursing Home as her dementia had progressed to a point that she required full time care. Cremation has taken place under the direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 71 McQuade Lake Crescent, Halifax. A celebration of life will take place after the pandemic is over. The internment of the ashes will be in Greenfield at the same time. Please, when you do think of Winnie remember her smile and her kindness towards others. If you choose, donations can be made to the Oncology unit at the IWK Hospital as her grandson was treated there and it was a charity that she wholeheartedly supported.
