Maude Kelly

Kelly (Phillips), Maude Emily, 82, of Bedford. It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that the family of Maude announce her peaceful passing on December 7, 2016 surrounded by her beloved husband, children and grandchildren.

Born in Inverness, Cape Breton, she was the daughter of the late Vernon and Sarah Phillips. After living in Inverness for sixteen years, she moved to Halifax where she met the love of her life, Gordon. They raised five adoring children and her family meant the world to her.

Maude brought kindness and love to everyone she knew. Not only was Maude a loving wife and mother, she had many interests and was a very talented artist. She painted in many mediums, depicting landscapes and her grandchildren playing, baked and decorated birthday and wedding cakes and made porcelain dolls. We are so fortunate that she has left us with these personal works through which we will always remember her.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Gordon; her children: Deborah (George), Michael (Angela), Colleen (Stephen); Sean (Carol-Anne) and Daniel (Mary Jayne); grandchildren, Kelly (Daniel), Kerry, Margaret (Alex), Sarah, Geena, Alanah, Matt, Connor, Curt, Nathan, Jay, Spencer, Logan, Caitlin (David) and Alex; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Aislynn, Liam and Aidan. She is also survived by her brother Fred Phillips and sister Edith McLean and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of T. J. Tracey Cremation & Burial Specialists, Bedford, (902) 835-4212. There will be no visitation by request. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, December 16th at 10:00am in St. Ignatius Church, Bedford, Father Pat Cosgrove Officiating. A reception following mass will be held in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Maude may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association. Interment will be at the Brookside Cemetery, Bedford.

The family would like to express their deepest thanks to Jillian Peterson and the staff at Grandeur Assisted Living and Dr. Mark Blanchard for their kindness and care.
