She attended University at Mount Saint Vincent and Saint Mary’s University and received both a Bachelor and Master’s degree in Education. She spent her teaching career concentrating in elementary and junior high schools. Even in retirement, she continued to teach at Sylvan Learning and was also a private tutor. She taught at various private schools including Convent of the Sacred Heart, Bedford Academy and the Maritime Muslim Academy. Beverley was a creative and energetic teacher. She positively influenced her young students to use their imagination. She always had projects, usually artistic in nature. Painting was a passion she shared with her mother. She was also very active in the local arts community. She volunteered with organizations such as Halifax Dance, Symphony Nova Scotia and Halifax Camerata Singers. Over the years, her leadership and organizational skills were key to running a “tight ship” backstage for many productions.
The family wishes to thank the oncology doctors and staff of Victoria General Hospital 5A and 5B for their outstanding care and long-distance daily communication with Beverley’s son, Victor.
Cremation has taken place under the care of T.J. Tracey Funeral Home, Bedford. (902-835-4212). Always ready for a good party, Beverley requested a celebration of her life be held at one of her favorite haunts, the Royal Artillery Park with champagne, strawberries, chocolate and Mozart. To honour her wishes a gathering will be held at RA Park, 1575 Queen Street, Halifax, on Thursday, August 2 from 5pm – 8pm.
